Dear Options Friends,
It is my great privilege and honor as Options' Board President to invite you to join us in supporting the Father Bill Scholarship Fund, established in honor of Father Bill O'Donnell to support the Options Recovery Program.
Father Bill co-founded Options with Dr. Coady in 1996 devoting time and energy, and utilizing his vast experience to build a successful recovery program. His untimely death in December, 2004 left both the Bay Area and Options communities with a huge void. It has taken us some time to recover, but thanks to the hard work of Dr. Coady and the staff, Options continues to be an exemplary program.
An anonymous donor has started the fund with a gift of $10,000 which is the actual cost to support one client for 9 months of recovery plus 6 months of aftercare. This includes treatment for mental and physical health, transitional housing and the community re-integration required to ensure that the cycle of addiction, crime and homelessness does not repeat itself.
The recidivism rate back into the criminal justice system is very low for Options' clients. I can personally attest that this program does indeed work miracles.
In order to continue Father Bill's legacy of compassionate activism in perpetuity, we hope that you will give whatever you can to the Father Bill Scholarship Fund in his memory.
On behalf of the Options Board of Directors,
Executive Director, Options Recovery Services
